Field Service Technician (Northeast region)

Job Description

We develop and manufacture efficient monitoring and controls products for the world’s most demanding applications, with a focus on defense and energy industries. We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Technician based in New York state or surrounding areas to cover a multiple state region consisting of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. This position will support installation and maintenance of our equipment at various customer sites across a dedicated sales/support region, with a primary focus on supporting a high-profile contract with Health and Human Services (HHS) to maintain a large monitoring network for the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS). This position will also include some sales development work with other potential customers with the region.

Our company specializes in wireless monitoring and control products across a broad range of markets including defense, building and industrial automation, medical/ life sciences and energy efficiency. Our customers range from the Department of Defense to health-care providers, so we’re looking for someone who feels comfortable working with a wide range of personalities.

This position in particular will require extreme competence with field support, as well as interacting with high-profile customers to maintain existing installations as well as develop new sales opportunities.



Job Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site installation and setup of our monitoring and automation systems
  • Troubleshoot, service and calibrate existing systems in the field
  • Demonstrate and provide field product/ application support to customers by offering knowledge, advice and answering questions and concerns
  • Capable of assisting sales department with new business and project opportunities
  • Diligently and accurately complete customer call reports and technical service documentation
  • Schedule, prepare and meet all of the appointments in a given day
  • Respond quickly to customer inquiries and problems
  • Comply with all company policies and complete administrative tasks in a timely manner
  • Maintain productive, professional relationships with all customers, company personnel and contribute to the overall success of the team.
  • Position requires >50% travel in regional territory and works remotely


  • Qualifications

  • Strong verbal & written communication skills for interacting with customers
  • Technical associate or 4-year degree and 2+ years field service/ support experience preferred
  • Background in general networking systems including 802.11/ Ethernet network topologies and associated device connectivity
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented individual with passion to deliver outstanding customer service and the ability to develop and retain business
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Strong knowledge of business productivity software such as email and spreadsheets
  • CRM software experience preferred
  • Willingness to receive COVID vaccination once available, due to customer site requirements and the sensitive nature of the project work
  • Must be able to pass a government background check for access to sensitive information, which typically required the candidate to be a US citizen
  • Based in NY of lower New England


  • Compensation

  • $40,000 to $60,000 (based on experience)
  • This position includes a full car allowance
